During the last two years this has been especially true in southwest Missouri. That's why we have formed the "ZOM Alert Team", a group of medical and counseling professionals in our area who are taking a new tactic. By using the popularity of zombie related entertainment and public events, we will interact humorously in character with science fiction and horror fans, treating the imaginary zombie outbreaks, while at the same time spreading the word on the real dangers of Meth, Bath Salts, K2, Spice and other drugs.
Our Real Mission
Just about everyone has heard a horror story or two on the evening news regarding the terrible effects of Methamphetamine, Bath Salts and other Designer Drugs, but few people realize how very common these synthetic drugs are in our communities or how regularly the victims of these drugs are encountered by police and medical professionals. In fact, the effects of these drugs are so devastating that the victims of these chemicals have become commonly referred to as "Zombies", a description that is often frighteningly accurate. But unlike the zombies of movies and comic books, these "Zombies" are real people with real lives being destroyed by these dangerous synthetic chemicals, and the behavior of these victims often puts friends, family, police and emergency professionals in real jeopardy.
